A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I have had the opportunity over the years to have experience of growing up, dealing with and owning a huge menagerie of animals:  Horses, Ponies, Donkeys, Dogs, Cats, Budgies, Guinea pigs, Rabbits, Rats, Possums, Llama, Alpaca, Sheep, Cattle, Chickens, Ducks, Pigs, and Emu.

I have trained and qualified as a vet nurse and have worked in a number of practices around the country.  I then completed my Bachelor degree in Health Science and Medical Imaging. I have since gone on to do a diploma in Canine & Equine acupuncture through the International college of Equine and Canine Therapies, which has been a real eye-opening journey.  But I felt there was still more that needed adding to my 'tool box’ so I have completed a certificate in Thermal imaging to complement my medical Imaging.

I am pleased to be able to offer my services and knowledge to you and look forward to meeting you and your Fur babies.

THERMAL IMAGING

Catch it before it becomes a problem

Thermography provides a visual management tool for owners and professionals diagnosing, monitoring or treating injury, illness or disease.

Thermal imaging is a non-invasive, no touch, no sedation way to scan the body's heat map for inflammation and trouble areas. A thermal camera can identify areas of injury up to three weeks before your horse exhibits clinical symptoms. Horses are prey animals and will mask injury for self-preservation purposes.

Thermal images can also help determine proper saddle fit and rider balance issues. Before & After images of the saddle and horse's back will reveal problem areas in the flocking & fit of the saddle as well as if a rider is balanced or more "one sided" while in the saddle.

Thermal Imaging graphically maps the skin surface temperature, providing an objective view of the subject. Heat is produced by vascular activity and metabolic reactions taking place within the body Physiological changes occur in response to underlying anatomical disruption, and can show whilst tissues are under stress, before major injury occurs.

This Modality is recognised by the FDA for … imaging of Cerebral Vascular, Peripheral Vascular, Breasts, Musculoskeletal and Inflammatory conditions.

A thermal imaging exam of a horse can show up health issues that are not visible to the naked eye. This can include:

Arthritis, hoof abscesses, soft tissue damage, tendon damage, laminitis, muscle tears, bone chips, infections, pressure points, blood flow, pre and post exercise, for monitoring clinical procedures and more.

LASER THERAPY (LLLT)

A new advancement in

Laser therapy (LLLT - Low Level laser Therapy) is a treatment that uses focused light at specific frequencies and wavelengths. Unlike
most light sources, light from a laser is tuned to specific wavelengths in simple yet realistic terms, the laser can be considered to be a form of light amplifier - it provides enhancement of particular properties of light energy. This allows it to be focused and can penetrate the skin tissues. The correct application of low-power lasers over injuries or lesions relieves pain or stimulates and enhances cell function thus improving wound and soft tissue healing, reducing inflammation and giving relief for both acute and chronic pain. LLLT Also reduces oxidative stress and increases ATP production within the cell. When LLLT is administered to acupuncture points the procedure may be called laser acupuncture.
Stimulates cellular energy
Triggers neuropathways
Stimulates chemical release
Promotes wound healing
Reduces inflammation
Relieves pain
Increases cellular regeneration

ACUPUNCTURE

With the added benefit of Lasers

Acupuncture is the stimulation of specific pathways within the body, these points stimulate the Neurological pathways, encouraging the release of chemicals and hormones that help to promote healing within the body, using Laser instead of needles has the added benefit of being non-invasive and allows you to treat points you otherwise might not be able to treat, due to patient age or sensitivity. The laser light helps to increase the energy production within the body’s cells.
